WhatColor - Color Picker & Eyedropper
Privacy Policy
WhatColor - Color Picker & Eyedropper (“the Extension”) is a privacy-first browser extension for picking colors, converting formats, and saving local history and palettes.
Summary
- We do not collect personal information.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking.
- We do not send picked colors or settings to a server.
- Color history, palettes, and preferences stay in your browser’s local storage.
Data the Extension stores locally
To provide its features, the Extension may store the following on your device using the browser’s extension storage API:
- Current selected color values
- Recent color history
- Named palettes you create
- Settings such as preferred color format, auto-copy, and history limit
This data never leaves your browser for Extension functionality. It is not sold, shared, or transmitted to the developer or any third party.
Permissions
- storage — required to save history, palettes, and settings on your device.
- On Firefox, clipboardWrite may be used so one-click copy works reliably.
The Extension does not request host permissions and does not inject content scripts into websites.
Clipboard
When you copy a color (or when auto-copy is enabled), the Extension writes the selected color string to your system clipboard. Clipboard contents are not uploaded or logged by the Extension.
Network activity
Core features do not make network requests. The Extension does not phone home and does not load remote code.
Children’s privacy
The Extension does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.
